Flat-5 Presents: A night of forward thinking, Techno, Bass and House music from the finest UK artists.
The co-creator and co-owner of the influential Hypercolour, Glass Table and Losing Suki labels, Alex Jones is a name that is rightly associated with unerring quality regardless of genre boundaries. A sharp wit and refusal to take life too seriously is contrasted by a cast iron reputation within electronic music that has seen the East-Londoner play the world over and release on some of the most lauded labels around. Hypercolour alone this year have released and have planed releases for Groove Armada, Mosca, Maya Jane Coles, Huxley, Arkist, Eats Everything and many many more, Alex Jones’s DJ sets are not be missed if you want to hear the very forefront of underground electronic music.
Hotly tipped by the music press so far this year, Bristol producer Artifact is part of a new wave of Bristol producers set to break through in 2012. Rave reviews for his recent releases coupled with fans that include “Mary Anne Hobbs” who he has recently done a mix for, mean the futures looking bright for this new talent. Blending a mix of techno influenced bass music with nods to modern deep house and old Chicago sounds his sound is refreshingly unique yet still aimed squarely at the dancefloor.
AKA Dean Mushin and Louisa Page have produced some of the most memorable records over the past few years for some of the finest imprints around including the likes of Supernature, Tusba, NRK, Murmur, Soma, Bloop and 8bit. Their Dubby take on house and techno has a solid yet intriguing sound to it that few come close to. When Djing it’s Dean who takes the reins, making quite a name for himself behind the decks recently and turning in highly acclaimed mixes for the likes of Buzzing Fly and Fabric.
Mounter & Mifi
Rounding off the night, Mounter and Mifi are both upcoming producers in their own right with Chris Mounter’s last release on I Records gaining large amounts of support. The long time friends have now teamed up to work on upcoming productions and for the occasional notable DJ set. Come 3am we’re certain they won’t disappoint.
New to the scene but already with a nice collaboration on I Records under his belt, He is a DJ we think is highly underrated and one who knows the true art of how to warm up a club.
Flat-5 The finest underground house, techno and bass music.
